Council adopts $1M water project, redevelopment easement

NJ BRIDGETON — Bridgeton approves $1M water project, tackles 22-cent budget increase. The City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 26-07, appropriating $1,020,000 from the Water Utility Revitalization Fund for water and sewer main replacement on Oak Street. The council also adopted Ordinance 26-08, authorizing easement dedications to Cumberland County for Eastern Development LLC's Phase I redevelopment project in the Phoenix Redevelopment Area.
CFO Dianilda Torres reported the 2026 tax increase has been reduced to 22 cents per $100 of assessed value, down from a proposed 36-cent increase, through use of fund balance and 10 percent departmental budget cuts. The council approved Resolution 88-26 authorizing emergency temporary appropriations pending state budget approval.
